Really, it was on at least its 2nd life. Rolls-Royce had wanted to kill it off in favor of BMW power plants in the mid ‘90s, but the separation of the brand’s and VW’s unwillingness to buy engines from a competitor (and BMW’s unwillingness to supply them) caused VAG to reinvest in the old lump and keep it around another few decades.

Sad. Mulsanne was one of rare new cars that I did like. I hope they are not seriously going to put a V6 into Flying Spur.
